Instagram post 2161348254604114760_5851478139 Today's #worldballetday and though I'm primarily a food/mental health blogger I wanted to touch on this as for me dance has been a big part of my mental stability over the years. I began ballet and tap classes age 3, and by age 4 I had decided that I wanted to dance professionally. However, by age 5 I'd been told I wasn't good enough and so by age 6 I was looking for a new dream. But I still kept going to dance classes and it wasn't until I left home to come to uni at the age of 19 that I left the dance life of loved so much. In hind sight this was purely because I was under the illusion of adulthood that there comes a time where you have to leave the hobbies you love behind and focus on the 'grown up' things. What'll get you a job? What'll look good on the CV? But whilst I was focusing on that I didn't think about what made me happy. Since then I've realised you only get 1 life, if you're not trying to be happy really what is the point? Dancing was always a tricky thing for me - I wasn't the fittest, the slimmest, the most technical person in the class, but I loved doing it so I kept on going back! So I guess my message today is that please, whoever's reading this, please do what you love! You wanna play music, play music. You wanna run a marathon, you run a marathon. Even if they tell you that you can't or that you're not any good, do it anyway. Sometimes you don't have to be good in order to do something. Just enjoying it can be reason enough to spend time on it! A few minutes ago, as I was writing this, I found out that this year's world ballet day theme is #everybodycandance which is a message I think is so so important. Dancing is such a beautiful way of releasing emotion, creativity, passion and also getting in touch with your body and physicality. No one should feel as though they shouldn't dance - no matter what size, gender, age, ability or background they're from! So spread a little dance razzle dazzle today, put on some music, get your body moving and let the smiles come out 😊💃
Instagram post 2151452587676930889_5851478139 I'm supporting #helloyellow on this very sunny morning in #oxford - today's the day to wear something yellow to support @youngmindsuk who campaign for better mental health support for young people in the UK. By wearing yellow you can show your support and solidarity with those suffering from mental illness and show young people that they're not alone! Check out the Young Minds website at www.youngminds.co.uk to find out more about hello yellow, to donate money and see how you can get involved! 💛💛💛

Instagram post 2147975527512139458_5851478139 Chocolate, booze and blackberries - what's not to love? Living in the countryside I'm always looking out for what fruit is ripening and when I should start taking plastic tubs out on walks to pick up some free food on the way round. This year the blackberries are insane and perfect for picking right now! So whether you're picking them off a hedge or picking them up in a supermarket, get yourself some juicy blackberries and make yourself some of these insanely comforting double chocolate blackberry brownies! •

Instagram post 2139415523808876566_5851478139 Rainy afternoons like these are always the best time for cookies, and these coffee and caramelised white chocolate cookies are just the thing right now! I'd never have thought of putting coffee in biscuits but I was inspired by @theboywhobakes amazing espresso rye cookies that were just sooooo good I knew I'd have to do my own take! Recipe now up X
